Ms. Ashley's Classroom Library

The humble little school library...is a ramp to everything in the world and beyond, everything that could be dreamed and imagined, everything that could be known, everything that could be hoped." -Lee Sherman, educator

Classroom libraries are an integral part of any classroom; especially elementary school classrooms. It is important to expose young children to variety of different genres of books because this is the time in their lives where they will develop their love (or hate) for reading. At this age, it is important for students to be able to choose from a plethora of books of interest for their personal reading.

The books that I chose to incorporate into my classroom library come from a variety of different places: my childhood favorite books, recently released books, award winning books, and the favorite books of the children I nanny for. I also tried to include books from the different genres and subjects so that children would have the opportunity to find the genre of books that interest them most. I also included books that could be used for children ranging from Pre-K through high school.

I love discovering books, new or old, to read and add to my library. I would love to hear about you or your child’s favorite books that are not currently in my library so that I am able to include and further expand my classroom library for young readers.

Below I have attached the link to view my classroom library. Have a look, enjoy and hopefully you discover books you and your child have not read before. If you have time I would love to hear about your favorite books!
